Dr. Margolis is a Professor of Dermatology and Professor of Epidemiology and a Senior Scholar (core faculty member) in the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania. An expert on the treatment of chronic wounds, he has a PhD in epidemiology and is board certified in dermatology and internal medicine. Dr. Margolis's research focus includes the treatment of patients with chronic cutaneous wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, and the prevention of chronic cutaneous wounds. He has a long-standing interest in understanding why some individuals with chronic wounds do not heal, which has led him to participate in epidemiologic studies on risk factors, surrogate markers, and the burden of chronic wounds. He has also been involved in numerous clinical trials on the treatment of chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers and venous ulcers.
