Introduction to Wound Epidemiology

Abstract

Acute wounds are very common but when they fail to heal wounds become a significant problem to the patient, the healthcare system and society. Understanding the scope of the problem is the first step in trying to figure out a solution.  This module discusses the epidemiology of chronic wounds. This module focuses specifically on introducing epidemiological data on venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, arterial ulcers and pressure ulcers as those are the most common type of non-healing ulcers.
