
Dr. Kirsner is Chairman and Harvey Blank Professor in Dermatology in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is Chief of Dermatology at the University of Miami Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospital and directs the University of Miami Hospital Wound Center. Dr. Kirsner received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, his medical degree from the University of Miami and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Miami, after he completed his clinical training. His clinical training included internal medicine, a clinical and research fellowship in wound healing and dermatology at the University of Miami. He directs a NIH funded clinical and translational research team. Dr. Kirsner serves on the editorial boards for a number of journals in dermatology and wound healing and serves in national leadership positions in both Wound Healing and Dermatology. Dr. Kirsner is a founding board member of the Association of Advanced Wound Care and a past president of the organization. He is also a former board of director for the Wound Healing Society. Dr. Kirsner is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Dermatology Board of Directors. Dr. Kirsner has co-directed the Symposium for Advanced Wound Care for the past 25 years. In addition to career development awards, foundation and industry sponsored funding, he is a recipient of NIH and CDC funding for his research. Independent of books, book chapters and abstracts, he has published over 450 articles.
