Chronic Wound Pathophysiology


Acute wounds progress through the phases of healing in a normal and timely manner. Chronic wounds failed to progress through this normal and orderly timely sequence of repair or without restoring normal anatomy and function. Many factors can impair wound healing including systemic disease, chronic infection, medications, smoking, and age.
